An exciting new opportunity for an Advanced Nurse Practitioner has arisen at Penarth Healthcare Partnership.

Job Description

Penarth Healthcare Partnership is a forward looking, innovative and sustainable GP practice in the seaside town of Penarth.

There are 9 doctors (8 partners) 5 nurses, 2 healthcare assistants and an in-house pharmacist. Three of the partners are lecturers with Cardiff University. There is also close links with the RCGP, LMC and Cardiff & Vale University Health Board through the partners other interests.

The patient list is circa 13500 and the practice is the largest GP practice in the Eastern Vale Cluster and occupies a purpose built surgery, in a central location, which they hope to further enhance over the coming years to meet the wider needs of their patients and the community.

The practice currently trains 1st, 2nd and 3rd year medical students and have plans to become a training practice within the next year, with a successful preliminary application already submitted to the Welsh Deanery. The practice is the designated GP practice for the Waverley Care Home, although they have patients in other residential and nursing homes, and work closely with their cluster based clinical colleagues to provide care to their residential patients.

The practice is creating a new role that they intend to develop to support the GPs response to both acute medicine and chronic disease monitoring. An important part of this role will be to increase their expertise in the area of, and the availability of, minor illness and GP Triage.

The successful applicant will work closely with the doctors, nurses and pharmacist to provide outstanding care for their patients. The role will not only enhance their patient care but enable them to move forward with patient care to embrace changes within health care to make for a sustainable general practice for the future.
